Sure, we know that cardio and weight training is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, but so we really know why? If you have a job that requires more sitting than anything else, think about how your body feels at end of the day. Tight muscles, an achy back, and feeling tired even though you haven't really done anything physical? Now, think about how your body feels after working out. Warm and flexible muscles, blood is pumping through your body, providing oxygen and energy. You feel energized, proud of yourself and ready to take on the world. Our bodies are made to move--not sit around all day! Here are just a few benefits of cardio: - Weight loss - Stronger heart and lungs - Increased bone density - Reduced stress - Reduced risk of heart disease and some types of cancer - Temporary relief from depression and anxiety - More confidence about how you feel and how you look - Better sleep - More energy The American College of Sports Medicine suggests 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise 5 days a week, or vigorous cardio 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week. While some of you may be thinking you don't have the time, you really do!! Cardio comes in many forms - * Pretend you're punching a punching bag for 1 minutes, rest for 30 seconds, and start again! * Walk a little bit faster than you normally would on your daily walk (better yet, start TAKING daily walk!) * Pretend you're jumping rope while you're waiting for your tea water to boil * Run up and down the stairs in your home as many times as you can * Try to do 100 jumping jacks spread throughout the day

Love these tips especially "pretending you're jumping rope". Now I have something to besides sitting and wait.
I always want to do way more cardio, but I have really sensitive joints and I'm afraid of hurting them by doing something too jarring. I should proooobably go see a physical therapist first, but this card definitely gave me more motivation to do so!
My cousin has pretty severe restless leg syndrome but if she walks a lot during the say or gets his blood pumping with some cardio he can sleep soundly!
I tried various cardio exercises. Personally, I recommend walking fast or jogging lightly.
