Five Tried & True Hangover Cures for Vegans & Vegetarians
[Note: If you're reading this and are actually hungover, I decided to forego the stock photos of hungover people for mini pigs. 9 out of 10 psychologists agree that mini pigs instantly cure the 'bad feels'. The 10th psychologist is too distracted by mini pigs. (Who can blame them?)]
I've decided I wanted to compile a nice list of veggie-friendly hangover remedies. I've consulted a few blogs and a few vegan/vegetarian friends, and here is the general consensus when it comes to tried and true hangover remedies!
1. Drink lots and lots of water. Whether that's plain water, water with lemon or cucumbers, or even coconut water, your body is dehydrated and needs all the water it can get to bring you back to your tip-top shape.
2. Have ginger or peppermint tea. Both teas are known to help with upset stomach. Personally, I like having a nice chunk of ginger root in my fridge at all times, so when my stomach isn't feeling its best, I can make the freshest cup of ginger tea ever. (Although, second place definitely goes to Traditional Medicinal Organic Ginger Tea.)
3. Have a green juice or smoothie. It will definitely help push all the toxins out of your body, while filling it up with lots of good nourishment. Apples, broccoli, cilantro, cucumbers, and kale are all perfect for this situation, but the potassium in bananas are essential when making up for what was lost from dehydration.
4. Cook up some cysteine-rich foods like garlic, onion, bell pepper, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts. According to Jessica Renae from Peaceful Dumpling, the amino acid cysteine breaks down toxins in the liver and will make you feel better much faster.
