Sometimes, you're just not good enough. A better looking, more lively Liverpool side traveled to Spain to take on the defending Champions League kings Real Madrid. The Liverpool side still missing striker Daniel Sturridge took on a strong Real Madrid side. The first half showed a bit of promise for the Reds before the hopes of Merseyside were dashed by Benzema's goal juse over a quart of an hour into the contest. Adam Llana looked particularly good on the ball in midfield as well. Real Madrid were the better side on the night, with Bale hitting the bar on a potential sitter in the 2nd half. Liverpool's Champions League aspirations are now in the balance. 3 points back from Basel with only 2 to play, the Reds need to almost surely win both their remaining games to give themselves a chance at qualifying. On the flip side, this win leaves Real needing only a point from the remaining 2 games to make the knockout round.
