Tape Measure Kills Man After Falling 50 Stories
Gary Anderson, 58, has just stopped to speak with a coworker shortly after delivering drywall to the construction site. A 1-pound tape measure fell off the belt of a worker on the 50th floor, struck equipment between the 10-15 floors, ricocheted and hit Andersonin the head. Anderson was taken to a hospital, where he died shortly before 10 a.m. Reports say that he was not wearing a hard hat at the time, but he did have on in his truck that he was next to before being struck. I truly feel bad for this man. If he was standing even just a few inches away, or if he was wearing his helmet, or if he had just been a few minutes early or late for the deliver, he would still be living. It's almost like something out of those Final Destination movies. My thoughts go out to his family, friends, and coworkers.

Really sad story. Hope this creates more stringent construction regulations and safety checks
