Apologies for the corny title, but really, after looking into laughter therapy I am so interested in starting as soon as I can!
The basic idea behind laughter therapy, or laughter yoga, is that laughter is the healthiest, most natural way to relieve stress. In the video, the yoga instructor relates to playing peek-a-boo with a baby. Think of how when someone is hiding, the baby is scared. Once the person 'reappears' the baby's first reaction is to laugh - relieved that their mom or dad has returned.
Because of this, laughter therapy isn't trying to teach you anything new, it is simply reminding you how important it is to laugh and laugh hard.
More and more our society is pushing us to be serious and to take life seriously, which doesn't leave much room for laughter. With this serious lifestyle comes a significant amount of stress, which means we should be smiling and laughing much more than we are now!
The second video I attached actually made me crack up. It seems so silly to be standing in a room of people laughing at nothing, but it really makes you feel better.
So take a moment to laugh - really laugh!!!
