In what was billed as a close affair, Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane, and the rest of the LA Galaxy blew away a defensively inept Real Salt Lake to reach the Western Conference Finals. The scoring stated early, right at the 10' mark as Landon made good use of a chip across the box to put the Galaxy ahead. Robbie Keane doubled the lead just peeling back onsides for a Donovan cross on the floor that had the Galaxy flying on 20'. The story of the game was all about LA's fantastic forward play that could have netted Donovan's 2nd of the half, as well as a chance from Zardes who was promptly denied by Nick Rimando. In the second half, the suffering only got worse for Salt Lake who saw Donovan round Rimando and score from a tough angle to make it 3-0 to LA. Pinedo waited 58 minutes in the LA goal to make his first real & good save before watching LA drive down the field and Sarvas score. Donovan was not done though, making a run into the centre of the box before knotting a lofted ball over his shoulder into the corner of the net to complete his hat trick. The Galaxy were unplayable, beating Real for pace in the attacking third, taking the ball off them multiple times in the middle of the park, and defensive suffocating the Real Salt Lake attack. As much as Real were awful, Donovan was stellar and it is only just that his MLS career continue onto another round.
