It's been exactly a month since I decided to delete the Facebook App & Messenger from my phone. I had told myself I was going to try it for a month and see how I felt. I'm not against Facebook entirely, but after a friend of mine did it, I thought I'd give it a try. I was feeling too consumed by Facebook and I wanted to see what would happen if I simply took the apps off my phone. This was also an attempt to make myself more productive. Here are some things I learned in this challenge: 1. It made me more productive. Having the app made it much easier to access Facebook...which was so distracting. The first week I noticed I would cheat and just go online on my mobile browser. As time went on I checked it less and less. What distracted me the most about the app were the notifications. Not having notifications constantly on my phone made me feel free. 2. I focused more on what was around me I noticed I started using my phone less and less when walking around or just anywhere in general. If I was talking with someone I wasn't as tempted to go on my phone. I noticed I started checking Facebook less & posting less than usual as well. I didn't realize how much time I spent reading my newsfeed! 3. I survived and life moved on I thought that after a month I would want to install the app again, but I feel fine. I'm not planning to install it again unless I absolutely have to. Deleting an app from your phone is a lot less scary than completely giving up on social media. Overall, I am really happy I tried this! Would you consider deleting your Facebook apps? Or is there another app that consumes your life? I challenge you to do it for a week, or month!
