Here's a look at the biggest stories from this Friday in the world of football: 1. Manchester United are reported to be interested in Spurs' Jan Vertonghen. (Source: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-eye-transfer-tottenhams-4663129) 2. QPR are reported to be interest in Pablo Alvarez who is available on a free transfer. (Source: http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/qpr-transfer-news-rangers-in-talks-with-argentinian-free-agent-pablo-alvarez-9873139.html) 3. Real Madrid's Sami Khedira has reportedly pre-signed a contract to join Bayern Munich. (Source: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/sami-khedira-arsenal-and-chelsea-target-agrees-precontract-with-bayern-munich--reports-9872404.html) 4. Wigan Athletic & Scotland forward Shaun Maloney is wanted by the Chicago Fire (Source: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/537975/Wigan-Scotland-Shaun-Maloney-football-news) 5. Liverpool's Jay Rodriguez has been told to tone down his recovery programme after he needed to have fluid drained from his knee. (Source: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/411385/Southampton-Jay-Rodriguez-SETBACK-knee-injury) My Thoughts: 1. Vertonghen would be a fantastic buy for Manchester United. Expect this move as they need him to help shore up their shaky defense. 2. QPR need defense and Redknapp has been trying to scope out these kind of buys. I would expect him to move for Alvarez. 3. Slightly doubtful. Khedira is probably going to be on the move and Bayern might be the spot he will land at but I don't think he will go for it since he faces stiff competition to get into the 1st team. 4. Would be a great pick up for the MLS. Wigan are under the gun a bit since their owner's recent comments but certainly the MLS is an option for Maloney. 5. This is a discouraging sign for Liverpool as Rodriguez, who blew his knee out in the Spring (looked very ugly, was gutted to see him miss the World Cup for England) has been itching to get back ever since.
