Although this is outside the realm of what we usually talk about in the collection, I figured this was so innovative that I had to share it! A new app called PhotoMath uses a mobile phone camera to read, solve, and walk the user through complex mathematical equations. As of right now the app only reads printed equations, but handwritten equations may be supported in the future. Of course some might take advantage of such a technology like students who would use it for cheating, however, I think this app is a great creative step forward for the applications of mobile phone cameras and what they are able to achieve. Related to cameras solving math problems, there are apps translate languages through your phone's camera. Isn't it just amazing what we can do with smart phones and their cameras now?
