A TAX ON BUNNY RABBITS: ASCII Computer Animation from Filmmaker Nathaniel Akin
This "asciimation" from Canadian computer animator Nathaniel Akin proves that you don't always need intense graphics and bright colors to pull viewers into a story. The short tells the story of bunny rabbits having to battle an evil laser-shooting robot with nothing but a graphing paper backdrop and ASCII keyboard symbols to convey action, emotion, and everything in between! Premiering at the 2011 Ottawa Animation Festival, and selected for screening for numerous festivals thereafter, it is a film that is so simple and yet so landmark in execution - and even features the voice of the director's infant daughter Akira for the bunnies! So cute!
