Hilary Duff is one of my favorite Disney actress because she survived the rocky transition from child star to adult beautifully. She is now a healthy, happy mom who has new music, new shows, and new modeling jobs all over the place. So how does she stay healthy with the pressures to be thin and the crazy schedules? Simple: she listens to her body and focuses on herself, not anyone else. She explains in an interview with Health magazine that she always used to struggle with her body type as a young actress. "When I was 17, I weighed, like, 98 pounds. I was totally obsessed with everything I put in my mouth. I was way too skinny. Not cute. And my body wasn't that healthy—my hands would cramp up a lot because I wasn't getting the nutrition I needed. That constant pressure of wanting something different than I had? I regret that. " Now, she celebrates her athletic build and works out in a way that keeps her strong and fit - without having to fit into a certain dress size. "I have an awesome gym I train at where there's only two pieces of equipment machines: a treadmill and a VersaClimber. It's this big open gym with ropes and big weighted balls and sledgehammers. And we do all these Spider-Man crawls down a track. Now I work out three times a week for an hour. And I'll run a track or do a stair. And I'm dancing all the time. I forget how much I love to dance!" She of course still feels the pressure of the industry, especially when dealing with a post-pregnancy body, but she doesn't let it phase her. "The second I had Luca, I went to go get my hair blown out at the salon, and I hadn't stepped outside in, like, 15 days. I was learning how to be a new mom, and I needed to go get my hair done. Then they're like, "Hilary Debuts Her Post-Baby Body!" I was like, I'm not debuting sh-t right now. I'm just going on an errand run! There is way too much pressure on women these days. It took me a whole 10 months to build a baby." You can check out her awesome body in her video for Chasing the Sun as well as in her new show called 'Younger' but the director of Sex and the City! I think what we can take away from Hilary is that you need to know what is good for you and don't try to fit yourself into a mold that you simply can't fit into. Celebrate your body for what it is and work towards making it the best it can be in your own way. Here's to you Hilary!
This is off topic, but I was listening to her Metamorphosis album this whole morning and I saw this! I love her. Not only is she smart and talented, she's a sweetheart!
I've loved her ever since Lizze McGuire! I'm glad that she isnt trying to fit into something that isn't her natural form. She's fabulous!
As always, Hilary has impressed me! Keep rocking, Lizzie :)
That music video is so great! Her office outfit is awesome, too :)
What a great story! Not the usual thing you read about the transitions of young actresses into adulthood, unfortunately. What she said about "debuting" her post-pregnancy body is hilarious!
