Fishtail looks slightly similar to traditional braids except its more intricate. It also divides hair in two section instead of three. The style also resembles a herringbone design (which is where the name comes from). This braid is easier to style on hair that has been washed a day or two earlier because freshly washed hair is too silky.
Divide hair into 2 sections and make sure both sections are tangle-free and smooth. From the back of the left section, take a small section of hair with a diameter of about 1/3 of an inch. Bring this out and over the left section to join it in the middle. Do the same on the right side, alternating between left and right sections of hair. Continue doing this until your each the end of your hair. Use a small ponytail holder band or ponytail holder to secure your hair when you are finished braiding.
