O the Torture. Another Extra Inning Game.

Like yesterday's game, the Orioles and Yankees were involved in a heart-wrenching display of defensive excellence. Unlike the last match, Baltimore prevailed this time 2-1 in 13.

CC Sabathia enters alcohol rehab center
CC Sabathia will not be pitching for the Yankees this postseason as he announced yesterday, that he will check himself into an alcohol rehab center. "Today I am checking myself into an alcohol rehabilitation center to receive the professional care and assistance needed to treat my disease. I love baseball and I love my teammates like brothers, and I am also fully aware that I am leaving at a time when we should all be coming together for one last push toward the World Series." The Yankees will play the Houston Astros in the American League wild card game tomorrow. During a press conference, general manager, Brian Cashman announced Sabathia's decision and said he was told of Sabathia's decision through an unexpected phone call from the pitcher himself. "CC has demonstrated a great deal of courage in trying to tackle this problem. Time and place have no bearing. There is something here that needs to be taken care of, and I applaud him." Cashman also said, "What CC is dealing with is a life issue. It is bigger than the game [Tuesday] night." This means that the Yankees will be missing a veteran pitcher in their pitching rotation. The 2007 Cy Young award winner posted a record of 6-10 and an ERA of 4.73 this season. But he has been gaining back his form lately settling down to a 3.80 ERA in August and a 2.17 ERA in September. What is this going to mean for the New York Yankees? We shall find out after tomorrow's game as they could potentially end their season tomorrow!
MLB Top 5 Plays of the Day (10/04/15)
Here are your Top 5 Plays of the Day! 5. Starlin Castro (Chicago Cubs) It was a fair ball down the first baseline. But after Anthony Rizzo fumbled the ball, it looked like it was going to be a base hit. But Castro beautifully went to cover for Rizzo and tossed the ball the Dan Haren to get the out! The Cubs beat the Brewers 3-1 in their final regular season game. 4. Nick Noonan (San Francisco Giants) This one was skied shallow to center field. We saw something similar the night before so when Nick Noonan went for it, we knew magic was going to happen once again. He followed the ball nicely to make the catch! The Giants however fell to the Rockies 7-3 in their final game of the season. 3. Jose Ramirez (Cleveland Indians) It was hit deep second base, but Jose Ramirez followed the ball perfectly and spun around to make a perfect throw to first. He not only got the out, he also made it to the Top 5 Plays of the Day! The Indians beat the Red Sox 3-1. 2. Kris Bryant (Chicago Cubs) The superstar rookie is still on fire as he preps for his first ever Major League post season. Bryant made that smooth backhand catch and made a jump toss all the way to first to get the out! What was even more incredible was the fact that it was a no hopper. He also got a standing ovation from the fans. Again, the Cubs beat the Brewers 3-1. 1. Nolan Reimold (Baltimore Orioles) The ball was hit high into left-center field. The wind was carrying the ball further and further away from Reimold, but he wasn't going to give up. Just as the ball was about to hit the ground, Reimold dived and caught the ball! What a play by Reimold! The Orioles beat the Yankees 9-2 for their final game of the season. Now that was your Top 5 Plays of the Day from last night's games! It's playoff time! Who's excited? I know I am - and I bet my fellow baseball fans are too! @mchlyang @christianmordi @ButterflyBlu @superiorsl !! Let's take a look at the Wild Card and NLDS schedule. It all gets started this Tuesday at 8PM ET as Houston travels to the Bronx to face the Yankees. The Yankees could have a tough time with the AL Cy Young frontrunner and 20-game winner, but it should be an intense game one way or the other. Win or go home! In the NL Wild Card, the Cubs face the Pirates in Pittsburgh at 8PM ET on Wednesday. This game also features a likely Cy Young winner, as Jake Arrieta will look to continue his masterful second half and knock out the Cubs' division rivals. After those Wild Card games are settled, we enter into the Division Series. Each series is a 5-game set, with the team with home field advantage playing host in games 1, 2, and 5. MLB Top Plays of the Day (09/15/15)
Here are your Top 5 Plays of the Day! 5. Kris Bryant (Chicago Cubs) Now we all know who Kris Bryant is and we all know he is the most likely player to win NL Rookie of the Year this season. We also know that he is an infielder. But you can put him in any position and you can expect him to do great things, which is exactly what he did in right field. Thanks to Bryant's amazing catch, the Cubs beat the Pirates 2-1 in their second match of their double header last night. 4. Manny Machado (Baltimore Orioles) Manny Machado probably has one of the best range at third base in the league and we saw that last night with the little chopper hit by Dustin Pedroia. Even though Pedroia may not be the fastest guy on the team, you can't ignore the Red Sox second baseman's speed. Machado made that barehand play look so easy and smooth. The Orioles also beat division rival, Red Sox, 6-5. 3. Mike Moustakas (Kansas City Royals) Mike "The Moose" Moustakas knew the importance of last night's game. He went all out, dived, slid, and landed in the rubber track. Oh, and he caught that ball while doing all that. He has finally stepped up for the Royals and has been a leader both offensively and defensively. Moustakas and the Royals blanked the Indians 2-0. 2. Stephen Piscotty (St. Louis Cardinals) Stephen Piscotty, the left fielder for the St. Louis Cardinals, made this tremendous catch that was going over his shoulder. The ball was already going by him but he was not going to give up. He dove and made this tremendous catch to put his name in the daily Top 5 Plays of the Day. The Cardinals beat the Brewers 3-1. 1. Carlos Martinez (St. Louis Cardinals) Yes, we've seen something similar with Manny Machado up there, but just in case you guys haven't noticed, Carlos Martinez is a pitcher. The Cardinals' starting pitcher not only pitched eight strong innings, giving up one run, but he also made that incredible play. He was off-balance but he kept his focus and threw a perfect strike to Colten Wong who came into cover first. So, number one goes to Martinez and once again, the Cards beat the Brewers 3-1. Now that was your Top 5 Plays of the Day from last night's games! The 5 Strangest Superstition in Sports!
Hello sports fans! It's Friday the 13th! Here are some of the strangest superstitions in sports! Michael Jordan Michael always wore his UNC shorts under his NBA shorts. Thus, he wore longer shorts than his fellow players at that time. In the end however, his fellow players followed suit after the legend. Serena Williams Serena Williams is known for not changing socks once during a tournament. It sucks to wear a pair of socks for more than a day...imagine how it would feel to wear the same socks for an entire tournament! I guess Serena doesn't mind it considering the number of tournaments she has won. Brian Ulracher Brian Ulracher ate two chocolate chip cookies before every game. Maybe that was the secret to his muscular body. I think it'd be fair to call him the "Cookie Monster". Caron Butler Caron Butler was known to be an avid fan of Mountain Dew. He loved the drink so much that he drank before and during every game. During his UNC days, he asked his wife to pick him a 2-L bottle of the green stuff, and drank half of it before the game, and the rest during half-time. In 2007, the Wizards and NBA banned him from drinking it during games so he eventually quit the whole thing in 2009. Moises Alou This one has to be the most f*cked up one out of all of them. Moises Alou used to pee on his own hands to harden them! Should we see that as commitment to the game of baseball or just some pretty weird ass shit? Oh and by the way, don't try to harden your hands by peeing on them ladies and gentlemen, because doctors have confirmed that peeing on your hand doesn't harden them. It actually softens them. @jeff4122 @ButterflyBlu @superiorsl @Starbell808 @DonnaMelton @InPlainSight @jokes @BEAUTYgirlARIEL @David19Flo23 @karencorchado @salahabdalla @Moose892 @BrookieyElba @SamuelRodriguez @ValerieAlissaPa @xitlalicordova1 @AndrewMaldonado @Jovi @Shippudenguy21 @AbdulrahmanSaad @trinityarcangel @thefeels @Link4TW @ChriSingularis @sanazsanaz @WilliamBrown @DannyMoses @ClaySharko @Ravenwing92 @FromBlue2U @TravisBeck @LemissaNicole @BossDominata @gatorchick96 @MatthewBoughton @MarcusJiles @BrandonMcNeil @MalikLawary @KyleBerke @manbungo2000 @DerekGumtow @havic @Straightshooter @PhilAnthony @Kirooken @yaakattackk @RodneyYoung @DreJones @JonathanKerns @bnzattoni @TravisManning @GalacticChakra @smothgreen @afxs @johnnolastname @ChristopherKenn @ChasePage @coreywriley91@MikeWolf @MrTenThirty @JasonNilsson @BrunoDutch @SherzTYC @krishntejanand @addri @ChrisStephens What was your favorite one from the list?
