Each year, National Geographic holds a photography contest to find the best travel photograph from all over the world. You are able to view all of the entires here: I often get lost in these entires (there are thousands) sp be sure you set aside time to really get into all of these photos and stories. Winners will receive: 1st Prize: An 8-day National Geographic Expedition to Alaska for two • 2nd Prize: A 5-day National Geographic Photo Workshop for one in Santa Fe, New Mexico • 3rd Prize: A 6-day cruise for two on a Maine windjammer schooner! Here are a few of my favorites but I really encourage you to check them all out on the site (all of the photos and captions belong to the photographers!) 1. Nadia Aly Location: Palau Taken in Jellyfish lake Palau, this photo capture the feeling and experience of the lake. These jellies have lost their sting over thousands of years, living in this lake with no predators. 2. Sarah Jackson Location: Mandiana, Guinea The female elders of a village gather at a celebration for a community garden. In Haute Guinea, West Africa. 3. Gisel Acquatella Location: Thukla, Nepal Prayer flags framing the majestic Ama Dablam, the mountain of mother and daughter. 4. Mateusz Kotyrba Location: Paris, France The photo has been taken during the sunset at the main square in front of Louvre. It emphasises the symmetry and the contrast of the architecture. 5. Nick Tanic Location: Madakaripura Waterfall, Indonesia Deep within the tropical jungle of Eastern Java, Indonesia, lies a mystifying giant waterfall—the Madakaripura. A lonesome adventurer is trekking his way through the slippery cave wall to discover new trails none had stepped. 6. Marc Henauer Location: Grüner See at Tragöss - Austria Green Lake (Grüner See) is located in Tragöss Austria. In spring snowmelt raises the lake level about 10 meters. This phenomenon, which lasts only a few weeks, covers hiking trails, meadows, and trees. The result is a magical diving landscape.
Check out the cerulean blues in that last picture. The composition of the photo gives it an enchanting vibe, magical. @sanityscout, did you notice the jellyfish? :)
