Train Yourself to Be More Positive
I'm starting my New Years Resolutions a bit early this year, and my goal is to end 2015 as a happier, more positive person. In order to get a jump start on this, I've listed up five ways the improve the way that I see the world and to move forward to become a more positive me! Step One: Believe a Positive Attitude is a Choice We all have bad days, and sometimes we have terrible days, but the way that you approach these hardships strongly plays into how these bad days affect you. I used to think that people were either positive or negative, but never really stopped to think that I could choose to be positive. When you find yourself in a bad situation, it’s up to you to be positive regardless of what’s happening around me.Try to realize that everything happens how it happens, and that it’s up to you to choose how I want to feel about it. You are in control of your own attitude, and no one can take that away from you. Step Two: Rid Your Life of Negativity If you want to live a positive life, you cannot be surrounded by negative people. Find people who bring lightness and joy to your life and fill your life with them. You want supportive, positive people to encourage you to shine. Focus on cultivating new, positive relationships—and letting go of the negative ones. Step Three: Look For the Positive in Life In every person, in every situation, there is something good. Most of the time it’s not obvious. We have to look. And sometimes we have to look hard. Now, when I’m faced with a difficult or challenging situation, I think to myself, “What is good about this?” No matter how terrible the situation might seem, I always can find something good if I take the time to think about it. Step Four: Reinforce Positivity in Yourself As with any sort of training, the more you practice, the better you get—and, yes, you can practice being positive. Tell yourself you’re awesome. Tell yourself you look good. Tell yourself you did a great job! Be honest with yourself, but do your best to look for the good. Step Five: Share Positivity with Others Optimism is contagious! Use your inner positive light to brighten other people's day and to change the atmosphere around you. All of that light will be reflected right back to you!
