4 years at $36 million. Wow. That is a lot of money for a guy who basically has had 2 good years... as a reliever. This was a guy who tanked as a SP prospect (he was the #6 pick!), so why do this? Well, actually it makes financial and baseball sense because David Robertson is asking for 4 years, $52 million. The overall thinking is this. Miller is 16 million cheaper, has been as good (if not better) than Robertson over the past 2 years, and does not have draft pick compensation. So in reality Robertson = Miller + a first rounder since Robertson would bring in a compensatory pick if he were to sign with another club.
