I was lucky enough to visit Hong Kong for a short trip a few years ago, and I was lucky enough to stay in the heart of Kowloon, a neighborhood filled with food stalls, markets, and eateries galore! I stumbled upon this video thanks to Time Out Hong Kong which is a cute (albeit a little bit hokey) track about the best 'food location' in Hong Kong, Kowloon City! If you go to Hong Kong here are some of the most famous items you should really think about trying: (note: a lot of these food are NOT vegetarian and vegan friendly so be sure to check ahead of time before you taste^^) * Cheong Fun in sweet sauce - Don't be frightened by the name (its called 'pig intestine noodles’ in English) these are just rice noodles in a sweet and savory sauce :) * Curry Fish Balls - Fried fish paste covered in some kind of incredible sauce. You can find this at any food stall! * Stinky Tofu - Appropriately named...Usually fried in Hong Kong and served with sweet or chilli sauce, stinky tofu is a Hong Kong street food classic. Try it, you might like it. * Egg Tart - Egg tarts are said to have been introduced to Hong Kong in the 1940s and are still popular today. Get them baked fresh in any local bakery - they're DELICIOUS! My personal favorites of the trip - * Dragon fruit juice - For $2 I got way more than I could ever drink! * Pineapple Bread (Bo Lo Bao) - The woman at the bakery wouldn't give it to me until I ordered it in perfectly accented Cantonese - frustrating but really funny! * Citron Tea - Buy it in 7/11! It is so check and really refreshing in the hot Hong Kong climate. Happy eating!
