Potato Tampering Reward Increased to $100,000

When you think potatoes, what do you think? I think family time, and crazy funny reunions. It may just be me, but I see the potato as one of the lynchpins of the family meal. Not the "I'm too busy” on the go kind of meals, but the sit-down conversation meals. So why would anyone want to ruin that? Well, apparently someone in Canada wants to. In a recent potato scandal, some delinquent(s) in Canada had the nerve to put sewing needles into potatoes of Linkletter Farms Ltd. So far only 10 potatoes have been found with sewing needles, but the concern was enough to lead to a huge recall of about 800k lbs. In order to help to find the culprit, a reward of $100,000 for any information that leads to the capture of the culprit. To be honest, I think this is probably a case of a young kid doing something dumb without completely thinking about it, and causing a huge mess. It is interesting, though, that it could be this easy to cause such a huge food issue. I mean it is 10 needles that have brought back 800,000 lbs of potatoes (think of the hours needed to do this). It is more frightening to think, though, that our food supply could be so easily tampered with…
