PlayStation Plus gave away $1,300 in free games in 2014
PlayStation Plus is a subscription based service for the PS3, PS4, and PS Vita. It started as an option subscription service for PS3 in 2010 and has grown in popularity quickly over the years. The base model of the subscription is $50 a year gets you free digital games every month with the caveat that you must be an active subscriber to continue to play the games. I actually bought this optional subscription on PS3 because the value was just too good to pass up. The PS4 requires a Playstation Plus account for online gaming, but that's another story. Playstation Plus gives you a variety of AAA titles, indie games, arcade games, and various other discounts on games and it refreshes every month. Someone calculated the total dollar amount of all these free games in the year of 2014, and the savings were pretty shocking. Gamers saves $1,300 across the three Sony systems. The weaker offerings on PS4 were due to the lack of a games library on PS4 and we can expect that to change in the near future.

That's pretty astonishing, actually. I wonder if they knew how much it would turn out to be, and if they regret it haha. Makes me consider it, though!
