For an installation piece at the Aichi Triennale, Japanese artist Kohei Nawa used foam to give visitors the sensation of walking through the clouds at night. Imagine a place where ‘foam’ inhabits an almost pitch-black room, creating an ethereal quality that seems aesthetically otherworldly. Walking through the space, the topography of the puffs creates a massive terrain of floating material. Nawa is known for his explorations of cellular forms as seen in his extensive series of PixCell sculptures where animal forms are covered in glass beads, and Foam seems to be a natural extension of this.
Very neat installation. I'm sure the experience of walking through the room would be quite amazing!
that's super cool
