If you want a beverage that is both chocolately and coffee based, and also incorporates a strong hint of alcohol, this might be the beverage for you! It's a coffee-chocolate-cream concoction that was created in Italy's chocolate capital, Turin. The drinks name comes from the Caffe al Bicerin, and that's where the name comes from! It didn't specifically have booze from the beginning, but when you're looking for a hot winter treat, I think it's completely acceptable to add the alcohol! ---------------------------------------------------------------- Recipe by Chow: Ingredients: 1 1/2 ounces freshly made espresso 1 1/2 ounces freshly made hot chocolate 1 1/2 ounces heavy cream *For a spiked variation, add 1 1/2 ounces Patrón XO Café or other coffee-flavored liqueur to the hot chocolate before adding it's layer! 1. Place a cocktail shaker in the freezer until well chilled, at least 10 minutes. 2. Fill a large heatproof glass with very hot tap water and set aside. 3. To serve, empty the glass and dry it out. 4. Layer the ingredients in the glass by placing the shot of espresso in the bottom and then, while slightly tilting the glass, slowly pouring in the hot chocolate. 5. Remove the shaker from the freezer, add the cream, and shake vigorously until frothy, at least 20 times. 6. Spoon the shaken cream on top of the hot chocolate and serve immediately.
