Bill Cosby Digging Up Dirt on Accusers
According to an article I just read on the Music Times, there are reports that Bill Cosby has hired a private investigator to go after the many people who have been accusing him of sexual assault and other sexual misconduct and dig up dirt on them. A report in Page Six quotes him as saying the following in a meeting with the team: "If you're going to say to the world that I did this to you, then the world needs to know what kind of person are you? Who is this person that's saying it? You can't say that I put something in your coffee, threw you in a cab and then you go on and live a high-profile life, a famous life and you never complain." My first reaction to this news was pretty negative. Although he hasn't been convicted of anything, a lot of people have come forward to accuse him and to me a report like this makes him sound pretty vicious. But mostly it brings up several questions for me: Does he have the right to go after his accusers' reputations like this, as he claims? What could it possibly do to help him? At what point and with what evidence can we definitively know the truth? Is there anything Bill Cosby can possibly do to salvage his career and reputation - and should he have that chance? I don't have the answer to those questions, but I'm guessing a lot of people are asking them as well.

It looks like he expects Beverly Johnson and his other victims to crawl to the corner and die. It is exactly the fear from this kind of response, and the fact that it is so acceptable, that make the victims of sexual abuse to be so afraid to come forward.
I'm still not sure to think about all of this....even if his accusors aren't the most righteous of people, this would prove that he isn't either. I think he needs to stop, and let them speak freely--wehther they're lying or not will come out eventually!
