Shampooing is one of those mundane beauty routine that seems obvious. However, I can assure you many ladies are washing their mane the wrong way. If you have dry hair, dead ends, dandruffs you may need to adjust your shampoo method. [Prep] The proper way to prep your hair for shampoo is rinsing it thoroughly with warm water. This will loosen dirt and oil while opening the cuticle and allowing the conditioner to penetrate more deeply. [Shampoo] I like to use shampoo twice especially during summer to really deep cleanse the hair. I spend 30 seconds on rinse to get rid of nasty build ups. Then I spend about 1-2 minutes on the second rinse. You'll notice the second rinse creates more foam because you're working on oil-free roots. During the second shampoo remember to massage gently in a back and forth motion, not vigorous circles, which can knot hair and cause frizz. Slide suds down the hair shaft with a smooth stroking motion. Do not scrub fragile ends. [Condition] Gently squeeze out some water before putting on conditioner. Leave the conditioner off the roots, where your scalps natural oils are concentrated. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes. Finish with a cold rinse, which closes the cuticle, locks in moisture and gives maximum shine. Why this works? - Washing your hair in hot water can damage your strands make it more fragile. - The ends of your hair are naturally more dry than the roost. Also, the root is where oil and debris builds up. Hence, you should focus on shampooing the roots and conditioning the ends.
