Winter is only getting colder here in my neck of the woods and with that comes runny noses and sore throats. Thankfully, I always have cough drops and hot water on hand, but sometimes a cup of tea with honey just doesn't make a difference when it comes to a sore throat. Here are some less popular but incredibly affective ways to get rid of a sore throat. 1. Gargle Salt Water Salt water actually has the ability to hydrate the inside of your throat while massaging the soreness out. Try gargling three times a day (but no more than that!) Ingredients: -1 cup of warm water -½ teaspoon of table salt Directions: Heat water until it’s warm, but not hot. Thoroughly mix in salt. Gargle. Repeat 3 throughout the day as needed. 2. Apple Cider Vinegar I swear, this cures anything! From a sore throat to bad acne, ACV has the ability to fix a ton of health problems. Here's a drink that will get your throat back to normal. Ingredients: -1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar -1 tablespoon of honey -1 cup of very warm water Directions: Mix the ACV and honey into very warm water. Drink it while it’s still warm! 3. Garlic This is not meant to make your breath smell good and for many people it isn't the most pleasant experience. Ingredients: -1 fresh clove of garlic, sliced in half Directions: Place 1 piece of garlic in each cheek, and suck on it like a cough drop. Try this once daily. 4. Steam it Out This is a great way to get rid of a sore throat and any congestion you may be suffering from. The steam will open up your throat and sinuses and will relieve any painful pressure. Ingredients: -1 medium to large bowl -Enough hot water to fill your bowl about halfway -1 bath towel or a towel of similar size -Eucalyptus oil (optional) Directions Boil a pot of water and pour it into your bowl. Lean over the bowl so that you can fully inhale the rising steam-you don’t have to stick your face right up to it. Drape the towel over your head to create a tent for the steam. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil if you’d like to make it more soothing.
Apple Cider Vinegar is the BEST!! I use it as toner too :)

Last year my roommate had a horrible sinus infection and after a few days of gargling apple cider vinegar she was almost back to 100%!
I actually use steam for a lot of things, especially just getting the chill out of my bones! A hot shower does wonders :)
I always had to drink salt water to help with stomach pain, so I'll try the other ways instead. Too many bad memories lol
