A big day in the football world, so here are some of the headlines that made the splash this Thursday. 1. Barcelona are ready to give up the rights to Messi if Chelsea pay them a whopping £500 million. Manchester United are ready to make a bid for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels. (Source: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-united-mats-hummels-transfer-4943806) 3. The Portland Timbers have announced their interest in Chelsea striker Didier Drogba. Manchester City are set to finalize the deal that will see defender Nastasic leave for Schalke. American Jozy Altidore wants to be one of the top earners in the MLS but the side interested in the move, the New York Red Bulls, do not want to pay him as much. (Source: http://t.co/RQfjmk652E) My Thoughts: 1. Nobody's paying that price and Messi's staying put. 2. They will probably end up signing him but it's good for both as I think Dortmund can use the money to get a piece or two to help salvage their season. 3. An unlikely move but Portland will probably pay him good money. Still, there are other reports he will take up coaching at the Blues once the season ends. 4. A loss for City but as long as they keep their back four healthy then it won't be too much of an issue. 5. He's not going to get the money he wants in the MLS after his appalling showing in the Premier League and quite frankly he'd be hard pressed to find a side willing to pay him what he wants.
