I am the biggest fan of female comedians. Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Margaret Cho, and Mindy Kaling are women I seriously look up to and whose jokes I can pretty much recite by memory at this point. When I was much younger, my dream was to one day be a writer for Saturday Night Live, and while it's been a while since I've actively aspired for it, it doesn't really limit my love for good comedy. (In fact, catching an improv show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in Hollywood is pretty high up there on my bucket list.) Needless to say, when I found out Amy Poehler was coming out with her own memoir, I couldn't be more excited. I watch Parks and Recreation all of the time, and reading and listening to Amy's many different interviews has always been one of my favorite things to do. She's really frank and honest, and you can tell how much she truly wants to give young women some real advice about anything from friendships to careers. Amy's book was full of that advice, as well as many 'flashbacks' to her childhood, her early career, and the first time she became a mother to truly back all of that advice up. The book didn't feel like as much of a book as it felt like Amy and I were sitting down for coffee. I really liked it, and I felt like I took a lot from it. (Plus her jokes were as hilarious as ever. But that's to be expected from someone who continuously slays the Golden Globes every year.) Sooooo, I would recommend this book to everyone, but especially people who love laughing and women in search of a new BFF in the form of a smart and silly memoir.
Great review! Well done.... Props to you Ms. @danidee
@timeturnerjones Thanks for the heads up! I've been meaning to reserve this one too @danidee. It must be time to go!
@MattK95 You should get it sometime! This one and Tina Fey's Bossypants.
I love Amy Poehler, she's brilliant in parks and recreation, and everything else I've seen her in, it's sad that she's not doing the Golden Globes again, normally I'm not greatly interested in books that aren't fiction, but this is a book is love to read :)
@Amye1 Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate the feedback. :)
