Christiano Ronaldo, for a second year running, has won the FIFA Ballon d'Or for the world's player of the year. He beat rivals Lionel Messi of Barcelona and Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The Portuguese striker scored 52 goals in 43 games for club and country in 2014 and was presented with the award from former Arsenal and New York Red Bulls forward Thierry Henry. Ronaldo, Messi, and Neuer were all a part of the World XI announced by FIFA as well that also included Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Sergio Ramos, Philipp Lahm, Toni Kroos, Andres Iniesta, Angel Di Maria, and Ajern Robben. Other awards presented today included FIFA Women's Player of the Year Nadine Kessler, Coach of the Year Joachim Low for his World Cup winning run, Women's Coach of the Year Ralf Kellermann for his side, Wolfsburg's successful Champions League defense, and the Presidential Award to Hiroshi Kagawa, who was covering his 10th World Cup this summer for the Japanese press.
@Iamjoen7 There was really strong talk for him. He deserved to be on the shortlist for sure but Ronaldo's goal tally of 52 in 43 is impressive.
@CitySarajevo Not for 2014 no. The season they first won the title I would have made the argument but I think Messi had like 96 or some goals that year so he was out-classed then again. Maybe this year but he needs like 40 goals in 2015.
@Spudsy2061 If he wasn't injured this season he could of.
@Citysarajevo Not when FIFA plays favourites to Messi (i.e. The World Cup award he won). Still, it's possible if he has another 30 goals season for City.
Aguero will win this one day.
