Let's face it, the last thing you'd expect to encounter at a wedding is the use of cactus (and succulents) for the myriad of floral designs needed to pull of a wedding. While it's true that cacti and succulents are not the same thing, for the sake of this card, let's not get too nitty-gritty into the details of horticulture; I'd like to make a case for using cactus for a few reasons. 1. Cactus is easy to find and boasts tremendous variety in texture, color, and composition. You're simply not stuck with an "ugly green thing." 2. Cactus is relatively inexpensive when compared to the cost of premium flowers. Cactus typically carries low association costs versus premium flowers. 3. Cactus use in floral designs, be it a boutonniere or a tablescape is the perfect element to add exciting dimension and sterling class to the wedding. 4. Cactus is forgiving and robust. One doesn't have to be precious in handling them, although caution must be exercised when either de-spining or keeping the sharp points intact for the design. Therefore, in light of the benefits of incorporating cactus into your wedding floral designs, I wanted to share some fabulous pictures highlighting different uses of cacti. You are limited only by your own imagination. Would you stray from center line and add some cacti to your wedding floral designs? If so, in what way(s)? Maybe you're not feeling the cactus vibe. If that's true, I'd love to hear your point of view also.
