Thanks to the winter weather and lack of sleep, I am nursing a bit of a sore throat today, but I'm not going to let it get the best of me! I threw together a little concoction that will set me back on the right track and take care of my throat - a cinnamon honey steamer! Cinnamon and honey are incredible for so many health reasons and if you pair them together they can fight some of the toughest aches and pains. Before making a cinnamon honey steamer, be sure you have the right ingredients. Cinnamon: Only use organic cinnamon for the best effect. You can use cinnamon sticks if you'd like, but I typically use powdered cinnamon. Honey: Raw, organic honey is the only honey you should be using - ever. Non-organic honey has the potential to do more harm than good, so please stick to the raw natural goodness! How to make a cinnamon honey steamer: - Add half a tablespoon of honey to the bottom of your tea cup. - Sprinkle cinnamon on top of that honey (typically half a tablespoon, but you can sort of eyeball-it if you want.) - Add boiling water (the hotter the better!) - Stir out any little balls of cinnamon that might have formed so that the cinnamon can blend with the water easily. Voila! Now, as you wait for this to reach drinking temperature, place the cup under your face (on your desk as you work, for example) and breathe in all that great steam to open up your sinuses. Drink up and stir occasionally so the spices don't settle at the bottom :)
This is actually great for revving up your metabolism too!
@vegantraveler I have been using agave nectar more and more and I love it!
Agave nectar also works as a honey replacement (and tastes just as sweet^^)
Luckily my neighbor actually raises bees for honey so I have a great supply whenever I need! I'll tell her about this little trick and see what she thinks :)
Sounds like something I need (and cute mug!!)
