As we become more and more reliant on our phones, GPSs and other gadgets that we bring outdoors with us, I can't help but feel like there are many people who have forgotten an important art: how to read a map and compass!
I must admit that I also haven't used a real topography map in a long time. I've used road maps and really basic trail maps, but I have forgotten about how important is to know how to read a topo map and use a compass, should the need arise!
And so, I went looking for a guide. This is probably the best guide I've read about the topic: it's helpful content and the tone is helpful & considerate. It's so good that I'm going to tell you to go read that guide, and don't bother trying to listen to me explain how to do it!
