While you can easily buy a trusty can of Hershey's Syrup from the grocery store, how about making a syrup that's just as good as the real thing minus the corn syrup and artificial ingredients? Maybe whatever recipe you want to drizzle this on isn't the healthiest dessert in the world, but with this recipe, you can feel a little less guilt about it. Pair this recipe with a nice big glass of almond milk for the ultimate glass of chocolate milk! ------------------------------------------------ Dairy-Free Chocolate Syrup 1/2 cup water 3 tablespoons evaporated cane or granulated sugar 1 tablespoon brown sugar 6 tablespoons cocoa powder 1 teaspoon finely minced bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Tiniest pinch of salt 1. Combine the water, sugars, and cocoa powder in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring to dissolve. 2. When the mixture reaches a simmer, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 more minutes, stirring frequently. When the mixture is syrupy, turn off the heat and add the minced chocolate. Let it sit for another minute, then add the vanilla and salt and stir until even. 3. Let cool to room temperature before use.
I'll be putting this on EVERYTHING
