The biggest advantage of DIY shampoo is you can avoid toxic chemicals found in many hair products. For instance, homemade shampoo is formulated without sulfates, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, paraben, phthalates, triclosan and odd ingredients. Best of all it only takes 5-10 minutes to make any DIY recipe.
With that said, I'll introduce you to my current favorite shampoo made with lavender and honey. It's gentle for all hair type and it only takes 5 ingredients to create this solution.
½ cup of organic honey
¼ cup of castile soap
3 teaspoons Jojoba oil
2 teaspoons calendula oil
10 drops of lavender essential oil
What it does to your hair:
Calendula oil is added to repair and heal from roots to ends. Jojoba oil strengthens ad moisturizes dry, dull hair. Honey is another moisturizer. Lavender oil reverse the effect of hair loss and leaves your hair smelling great!
How to make solution:
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Place the solution in a sanitized bottle. If you decide to use a jar, use a spoon to take out the shampoo each time you use it to avoid getting water into the container. Store it in a cool dry place. It'll last for up to 5 months.
Direction to use:
Wet hair, than massage a few tablespoon of the solution onto the scape. Focus on the scalp and rinse well.
I hope you like this shampoo solution! Feel free to share your favorite DIY shampoo! :)
