Biggest Underground Bike Park Opens in Kentucky

An amazing underground bike park called Mega Cavern is being built in an abandoned limestone mine in Louisville, Kentucky. The owners say it will be the largest indoor course in the US, at 320,000-square feet. Riders can delve nearly 100 feet beneath the earth's surface, riding all that the park has to offer.
The "soft opening" happened yesterday and was reservation-only. The grand opening should be sometime in March.
The park designers spent countless hours 45-plus trails, filled with jumps, slalom tracks, BMX and singletrack features, and even a crosscountry course! Sounds like an awesome time right? Do even need to mention that:
• No need to worry about sunburn. • No need to worry about bugs. • No need to worry about rain, which it does often in Louisville during the winter. • No need to worry about heat and humidity, the temperature in the mine is a constant 58 degrees.
It’s an ambitious project, to be sure, considering that once the mine became non-operational in the early 1990s, the space became a dumping site for dirt and rock, which has piled up, year after year. However, bikers from the all over were persistent in requesting that the park be made, so the owners decided to do it!

@troygreene84 I saw a picture awhile ago from this location with people with cross bikes. I'm not sure it's something that was incorporated into the final design though
I rode my cross bike down there during the soft opening. After a sid 4-6 weeks the trails will be packed in better. I was pretty damn bumpy for a cx bike now. This park has incredible potential
