I am currently riding Devine Street Slayers and I really like them. Being new to downhill longboarding, does the surface area of the wheels make a huge difference? These wheels are pretty wide which i like, but i also rode the sector 9 slick shoes which have a smaller surface area and they feel really good, but i am sceptical to buy them because i dont know how they will act when i go to turn a corner at 40mph. Any ideas? Other wheels to try? Etc

Are you sliding orrr
A smaller contact patch just wont have as much grip. Youl predrift when you try to grip, but larger wheels will be able to hold their own
Beginning to slide a bit yah
I honestly dont remember what they said it was @steezus
Try Wheelrz Magic, they have a 52mm contact patch. They are ment for downhill.
