Taylor Swift was notorious for writing a song about a one-month relationship that ended badly, only to start up another one a few months later. Here is the complete (or, mostly complete) list of songs inspired by her public relationships. We'll never know who inspires the rest of her songs!
Harry Styles (December 2012-January 2013)
I Knew You Were Trouble - Swift even tweeted confirming this was about the nasty breakup!
Style - The most obvious reference (hello - look at the title!)
Out Of The Woods - widely assumed to be about Styles, with lyrics referencing their December romance and snowmobile accident.
Conor Kennedy (July 2012-October 2012)
Begin Again - During an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Taylor explained that it is about, "When you've gotten through a really bad relationship and you finally dust yourself off." Aka Zac Efron... and coincidentally, T Swift's new beginning was Conor Kennedy.
Jake Gyllenhaal (October 2010-January 2011)
The Last Time - In an interview, Swift explained that "The Last Time" is about an "experience I had with someone who was kind of this unreliable guy. You never know when he's going to leave, you never know when he's going to come back, but he always does come back."
Cory Monteith (April 2010-May 2010)
Speak Now - Swift explained to Yahoo that the "Speak Now" song "Mine" was about a guy, "that I just barely knew put his arm around me by the water, and I saw the entire relationship flash before my eyes." Neither Swift nor "Glee" star Cory Monteith ever confirmed that they were dating though!
John Mayer (December 2009-February 2010)
Dear John - Obviously this relationship didn't end well with a song using John Mayer's first name with lines like, "Don't you think I was too young to be messed with? The girl in the dress cried the whole way home. I should've known."
Taylor Lautner (August 2009-December 2009)
Back to December - In a rare occasion, Swift apologizes to an ex for a rough night, a night that very well could have been the one when she dumped actor Taylor Lautner.
Joe Jonas (July 2008-October 2008)
Last Kiss - Mopey mopey break up song at its finest!
Forever and Always - Before he broke up with her over a 27-second phone call, Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift really thought they'd be Forever and Always!
Holy Ground - This is a much more positive reflection on the relationship. She seems to have finally gotten over Jonas!
