Forget about chicken and beer, it's all about burger and beer. That's right. If you're into craft beer this burger is everything you can hope for - meaty and just the right amount of booze. To make things a little better you can you add some beer-battered fries or onion rings and you'll get yourself a beer-rific meal.
For the Burger Patties
1 lb. ground beef
⅓ cup smoked gouda, diced into small squares
5 green onions
salt and pepper to taste
⅓ cup beer
⅓ cup breadcrumbs
1 tsp. worcestershire sauce
4 hamburger buns
4-8 slices smoked gouda, for topping hamburgers
4 tsp. dijon mustard
⅔ cup salad greens
1. Chop 2 green onions and leave the rest for later. Add the chopped onion into a bowl with all the burger patty ingredients. Mix it well. If mixture is too soggy add breadcrumbs. If it's too dry add more beer! ;) Divide patty mixture into four sections and form it into a hamburger patty.
Preheat a grill and place hamburger patties and sear each side for 6-19 minutes depending on your liking. When the burgers are a few minutes from done, top them (still on the grill!) with a slice or two of smoked gouda for the melting effect.
Place remaining green onions on the grill and grill for 2-3 minutes on each side until they have some nice char marks. Remove from the grill and give the onions a rough chop. Set aside.
Toast the bun for a bit so it's nice and crunchy then assemble your burger! Top it with some grilled green onions, a teaspoon or so of dijon mustard, and a handful of baby salad greens. Now devour it. :)
