Arsenal are only without the services of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who suffered a hamstring injury in the Gunners’ 2-1 FA Cup 6th Round win last Monday. West Ham are without 5 main players as Enner Valencia’s toe injury will more than likely rule him out of the contest while Alex Song is still struggling with a knee injury. The Hammers will also be without James Tomkins and Winston Reid, while Carl Jenkinson is loan ineligible.
Arsenal have won the last 9 meetings between the sides, 8 of which were in the Premier League while West Ham’s last win over the North London outfit was in the 2006-2007 season; since then West Ham have drawn twice and lost the other 12 meetings. Arsenal are red hot, failing to win 2 of their 13 games in 2015 one of which was their FA Cup defeat to Championship outfit Middlesbrough. Arsenal have also won 7 straight at home and Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott have combined for 9 goals in their last 4 meetings against West Ham. Only Liverpool’s 23 points is better in 2015 than Arsenal’s 21.
West Ham are winless in their last 7 games in both league and cup and have only 1 win their last 11 Premier League games. Sam Allardyce has also never beaten Arsenal away in his managerial career while in the Premier League. West Ham have failed to keep a clean sheet in all their games this season bar a 0-0 draw with Southampton, tied lowest with relegation threatened Burnley and QPR.
More of the same sadly. As much as I’d love to beat Arsenal away, the odds, injuries, and talent is not in West Ham’s favour and it will be another easy afternoon for the Gunners.
Arsenal 3-0 West Ham
