Q: I'm Going to College...

Q: Hello, about five months ago one of my good friends and I decided we would become a couple. At the time, it seemed like the best idea considering we had a mutual attraction for about two years, just always at different times. Here is the problem though: I leave for college next month but he however will just be a senior. Sometimes I can't help thinking that we should break up before I go and I feel awful because I don't want to lose a good friend, but I also don't want to be "held back." Help??
A: Leave your answers in the comments!! :) Let's help this anon out!
I've been in this situation before and there's no real right or wrong answer. If you guys feel like the connection is real and are willing to put in the work go for it. Otherwise I can tell you freshman and sophmore year of college is where you grow a lot and you won't do as much if you have something back home. Let him down easily explaining you want to have a fresh start. You guys are young so honestly it will blow over. tl; dr:: If you see it going anywhere give it a try. It can be nice to have someone remind you of who you are. If you don't see sparks just be honest that you want to restart in college.
I say just be really honest with him and express what you feel. Express how you know there might be a lot of jealousyissues and a lot of changes, and you want to be close friends and see how he feels. Depending on what you both thing, either give it a try. Or don't. Even if you don't, there's no one saying you can't get back together later if that's what you both still want!
I say break up. My relationship that I tried to carry to college, even when I knew it was going to be rough, ended up being so horrible on both of us that it wasn't worth the extra few months we had together. And we ended up having a super messy breakup because we dragged it out!!
