You can't see it, but my eyes are rolling into the back of my head.
A police officer in Grantham, England stopped 4-year-old Sophie Lindley on her bike early in the morning walking with her father. The officer decided to tell her off for riding on the sidewalk.
The officer warned Sophie and her father that cycling on the sidewalk is illegal and that he would confiscate the bike if she got back on it. The officer then proceeded to park and watch as they walked away, in order to make sure she didn't get back on her bike.
Later, the police department issued a statement: "Safety is our priority and cycling on the pavement is illegal. However, common sense obviously prevails and in the case of young children, officers would use their discretion and offer the most appropriate advice for the circumstances."
This is exactly why in the US we have laws stating that anyone 14 years of age or younger can legally ride on the sidewalk.
