I started using homemade shaving cream because my skin is really sensitive. Harsh chemicals cause itchy, red spots to form on my legs. So, adding on the pressure of the razor my skin is prone to get in grown hair. After making the switch to DIY I no longer have to deal with itchy spots. If you have the same problem you should probably try making your own shaving cream to avoid the chances of getting irritated skin. It takes a little effort but the result is amazing.
How to make homemade shaving cream?
Use a double boiler or use a glass bowl over a pot of simmering hot water, add the shea butter, coconut oil and sweet almond oil over the lowest heat. Remove heat once it completely melted. Add essential to the combination.
Transfer bowl to fridge and let the mixture harden. Then remove from fridge and use a stand mixer or hand-held electric mixer to whip until consistency of frosting.
Let it sit on the counter for a couple minutes before transferring to an airtight container (i.e. mason jar).
@pizzaforall Just FYI, I just starting using it as a replacement for my regular shaving cream and my legs are silky smoooth!
Can't believe I've never thought of using a DIY shaving cream! Thanks for the recipe/instructions!
@ChelseaHeyes Really?! Oh man, now I want to try this.
@ChelseaHeyes I believe so!
Do you run it on your skin and shave as usual?
