After learning about the beer rinse from @HairConfetti I did a little research on alcohol for hair. Then I came across a few ways to highlight your hair without bleach or peroxide. Those chemicals always scare the heck out of me. So if I can get gorgeous sun-kissed hair without all the harsh chemicals, I'm in.
You're probably wondering how does it work. I'm sure you notice the sun can lighten your hair. According to experts, the acid in alcohol opens up the cuticle layer to speed up the actual lightening process of the sun on your hair.

Vodka Spritzer

Ingredients: 2 parts seltzer, 1 part vodka
Vodka has a clear blue tone to it, so it lightens hair without it going orange. You can also clean out red brassy tones with this mixture.

Rum Fizz

Ingredients: 2 parts seltzer, 1 part rum
This is how you get caramel tone in your hair.
These are meant to be sprayed on hair before you go out in the sun (twist hair into braids or a bun). The more you use these recipes, the lighter your hair will look. So, spray a little before you hit the beach!
You could also beer your hair and naturally dry it on a sunny day, just like ancient Greeks!
@CieraCulton Also lemon spray works! Just go easy on it.
Wow, I had no idea that vodka was a good drabber. My hair gets so brassy so fast when I try to lighten it.
@iluvdurian31 didn't know Greeks use beer to highlight their hair. I learn so much here! Lol
I actually heard of this method before but it does dry out your strands, so make sure you condition your hair!
