Except they got it all wrong. Fred wasn't even in the top 5!!! And so, I'm going to list up my top 10 saddest deaths, because I think that this list needs to be corrected ASAP. I think we can agree to disagree on the order of the top 5, but if they aren't the same people then I don't know what you're thinking.
Hedwig might not be a person, but that doesn't mean that her death doesn't hurt. She was one of Harry's first connections to the wizarding world, and his long time companion when he was trapped on Privet Drive, and her death is really sad.
9. Colin Creevey
As annoying as Colin could be early on, his death was not one that anyone would be happy to hear of!
Fred!!! This is what really set me off about MTV's list. He wasn't even in the top 10! Fred was so young when he was killed during the battle, and his death isn't easily forgotten. Or let go. Or stomached. Yikes!!
Nooooo :( :( Nymphadora was such a fun character who had a lot of levels to her character and story, and seeing her and Lupin happy (though, for a short time) was really great. Poor Teddy...
6. Remus Lupin
Not only was his death sad for the same reasons as Tonks', he also was such a father figure to Harry, especially after Sirius's death. He was the last of the Marauders, and seeing him go down was painful, too.
5. Albus Dumbledore
While some might say "but he was already so old!", that doesn't matter. In a way, Dumbledore was the pillar of stability in the world of Hogwarts and Harry, so his death represented a big shift. It represented that it was time for Harry and the others to take the lead, and that is hard to watch, too. Plus, seeing everyone mourn his death was really painful, too.
4. Sirius Black
Arguably my favorite male character of the series, I was heartbroken to see him die! You think he's hurt, and then you think he's OK, and then BAM he just disappears into the Veil forever. And right when Harry had finally found a family member to stay with :(
3. FRED! re: George
OK, I know he was already on this list, but I'm seriously peeved it wasn't on the other list!!! Not only that, but when Fred died, George lost a part of himself, too, so I think his death counts two-fold. It's still not sadder than our #1 and #2, but it's really, really, REALLY sad.
Do I even need to explain this one? Meddlesome as he was, Dobby literally saved everyone, and lost his life doing it. We love you, Dobby.
It's during Snape's final moments that we suddenly can piece together his entire life, and everything he went through because he loved Lily Potter, and thus he promised to protect her son even long after she was gone. Everything Snape went through was because he always loved Lily, and that's really freaking tragic. We love you too, Snape!
