Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has been banned for three games after his stamp (pictured above) on Manchester United keeper David De Gea in Liverpool's 2-1 loss to the Red Devils last weekend. Skrtel now joins captain Steven Gerrard on the ban list for their Premier League games away to Arsenal, at home to Newcastle, and the Reds' FA Cup 6th Round Replay at Championship side Blackburn.
This is another tough loss for Liverpool, not that Skrtel is the Reds' best defender but Liverpool now face a tough away trip and their FA Cup hopes balancing against the loss of 2 of their starting players. With Liverpool now 4 points out of the final Champions League spot, the Reds seem to be their own worst enemy in their loss to Manchester United and 2 bans. Last season was also the same case of shooting oneself in the foot with Suarez's early season ban, Gerrard's slip, and Liverpool's implosion at Selhurst Park that saw them blow a 3-0 lead only to draw and lose the title by 2 points.

@VarunNambiar He's always had that character. Why he's captain to be honest.

I rewatched the game today and still missed the stamp. Hard to find it worth 3 games...

@CitySarajevo Agree with @GermanBumbleBee and 3 games is just customary.
