Shocking and Devastating Results of Teen's Texting While Driving
The Automobile Association of America (AAA) released a video analysis from the most comprehensive research ever conducted into crash videos of teen drivers. They found significant evidence that distracted driving is likely much more serious a problem than previously known. The results found distraction was a factor in nearly 6 out of 10 moderate-to-severe teen crashes. This is four times as many as official estimates based on police reports. Some of the footage from the study is included in this video.
Researchers at AAA analyzed the six seconds leading up to the crash in nearly 1700 videos of teen drivers taken from in-vehicle cameras. The results showed that distraction was a factor in 58% of all crashes studied, included 89% of road departure crashes and 76% of rear-end crashes.
It's simple people. Get off your phone when you are behind the wheel of a car. Crashing is the least of your worries, you could end up killing yourself or someone else.
