Olive Oil

Olive oil is good for lowering cholesterol, increasing heart health, and burning fat.It is rich in antioxidants, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K.
30 g of olive oil contains 90% of the recommended daily intake of monounsaturated fatty acids.This oil is a staple in most top chefs’ meals due to the unique flavour it brings to foods. Additionally to making foods scrumptious, it can be applied topically to the skin and nails to soften and moisturize. No wonder Homer deemed olive oil “liquid gold.”

Tip:

Make sure your olive oil is extra virgin olive oil.
It is made by crushing olives and extracting the juice, without any industrial refining or chemicals added. The taste must not be defective (i.e. bitter, acid). It should have a distinct smell of fresh olives. Since it is a natural oil, the taste may vary slightly depending on terrain and the type of olives used. The bottle should state it is 100% natural. Keep in mind the bottle should be stored in a cool, dark place to avoid spoilage (that is why all oil glass bottles are dark – to keep the light out).

Advice:

Eat 3 table spoons of olive oil per day and try cooking with olive oil instead of butter or vegetable oil!

I really like olive oil in a Mediterranean-style salad dressing with garlic, lemon, salt, mint, parsley, and sumac. So good, and so easy to make! :)
