One of my all time favourite movies..Have watched it umpteen times
George Clooney stars as Ryan Bingham, a corporate hatchet man who loves his life on the road , fires people for a living and loves his life devoid of any attachments.
One of the lines in his narrative goes: "Last year I spent 322 days on the road, which means I had to spend 43 miserable days at home."
A man who believes in Loyalty and the enjoys the special privileges that comes from it, his main goal is to accumulate up 10 million frequent flyer miles.
This all changes with the introduction of two women in his life.
The first is Alex, a fellow travelling workaholic, played by Vera Farmiga with the type of sass and sexuality that even makes a player like Clooney blush.
The second is Natalie, a young go-getter portrayed by Anna Kendrick. She proposes to revolutionize the business of firing people though the use of cold, artificial technology. This does not sit well with Clooney’s Ryan. After all, even executioners add a personal touch to their job.
What happens when the two things of what Ryan lives by, being on the road and not falling in love are challenged by these two ladies!!
Jason Reitman excels in his direction here.
There are two great speeches in the movie which emphasis on how relationships and attachments weigh us down..
I think two different conclusions can be drawn from this movie..which depends on how the viewer views life and its purpose.
Go for it.. Sharp dialogues... Clooney at his best.. The beautiful Vera Farmiga.. Oscar Nominated for best pictur... Direction.. Actor... Actresses in Supporting roles.. Worth another watch..
I remember watching this movie once and really liking it, I need to rewatch cause I forget everything else! Maybe this will be my Friday night flick!
