I don't know why I haven't thought about using eye shadow to give my hair some electric-hue highlights. I mean...chalk works, I wonder why it took me so long to realize eye shadow also works. Using what you already have is the best way to save money and time!
Other reasons why I love this highlighting method - No commitment and no heat required!
Ready to stand out from the crowd? Let's get started!

How to highlight hair with eye shadow:

Before you start make sure you're wearing an old t-shirt.
1. Spritz a cotton pad with water. Then gather 1- to 2-inch section of hair about midway down the length, place the moistened cotton pad behind the hair, and press the eye shadow color side down directly onto the hair. Basically, you're sandwiching your hair.
2. Rub the color onto the hair until desire color intensity is reached.
3. Spritz on hair spray liberally.
4. Repeat until done.

Styling Inspirations

Try it out with waves, braids and effortless updos. Also, play with your eye makeup to compliment your hair.
Note: The colors will go away in one wash.
This is better than using chalk (which requires heat).
I think it depends on how pigmented the eyeshadow is. Mine lasted for pretty much the entire day give or take 2 quick 'touch ups' in the bathroom. I used Medusa's Make-Up in Electro Pink. It's a Hot Topic brand, which I wouldn't normally recommend for cosmetics, but is a good place to pop into if you want some pretty wild colors for cheap.
@danidee so you tried it with eye shadow? How long did it last?
I'm not going to Coachella this year, but I'm trying this out for the spring/summer anyway. I love having funky colors in my hair! I've already done turquoise, navy blue, and hot pink!
I actually prefer this look than the floral hair. I feel like floral adornments are overrated at Cochella.
