Last month Spotify launched on PlayStation systems around the globe. Sony's previous service, Music Unlimited, was a subscription based service that paled in comparison to apps like Spotify and Pandora.
Well, Sony made a very wise decision. Spotify is a huge partnership for Sony, and a massive selling point for the PS4. Spotify allows free and paid users to stream any music on their service, make playlists with said music, and look up friends playlists. There are also ways to discover new music like personalized radio stations, user made playlists, and collaborative playlists.
PlayStation users will now be able to listen to music with their consoles. This isn't just for kicking back and listening to music while a few friends are over, you can listen to music while you are playing games and change songs on the fly!
PlayStation users can easily change the music through the PS menu (holding the PS button on the controller), but that's not all. You can also change the music through your phone on the Spotify app!
Murray Pannell, the UK Marketing Director for Sony, confirmed that Spotify will be exclusive to Sony for the foreseeable future. It's a huge win for Sony, and it's already showing. Spotify had 1.5 million downloads on PS4 in the first 24 hours of its launch!
