New England’s Jermaine Jones remains the only injury concern for the Revs and the midfielder is considered to be unlikely to play. Columbus midfielder Will Trapp and defender Waylon Francis are reported to be questionable, but both will unlikely play.
Last year’s Eastern Conference Semifinalists meet again at Gillette Stadium for their 1st regular season meeting since the Revs knocked Columbus out 7-3 on aggregate after winning both legs of the tie. The Crew did take 2 of 3 from the Revs in the regular season last year, but the 26th of July’s 2-1 win for the Crew at Gillette Stadium was only Columbus’s first win in Foxborough since 2011. The Revolution are also recovering well. Lee Nguyen scored his first goal of the season since returning from injury in the Revs’ 2-0 win at Colorado last weekend. The Revs are also 2-0-1 since dropping their opening 2 games of the season.
Prediction: The Revs return to form is nothing to snuff at as Columbus continue to slip into deeper and deeper troubles.
New England 2-0 Columbus
