What to Do If You Catch a Tummy Bug
I've got two sick little ones at home with a stomach bug that is making its way around our family, so I wanted to share some of my personal tips for dealing with this uncomfortable and often unavoidable virus. Luckily, this one seems to be a 24-hour bug but for prolonged stomach flus be sure to check with a doctor!
Hydrate
Chances are you'll have trouble keeping anything down during the beginning of your struggle with a stomach bug. You still need something in your stomach though, so go for clear fluids such as water, seltzer, ginger ale, ginger tea, and ice chips. Avoid caffeine and alcohol (though some teas will be fine - just try to have the lighter teas like white, green, and herbs)
Eat
You probably won't feel like eating much, so stick to bland foods like bread, crackers, broth, or white rice. Try your best to avoid dairy products (a little butter on toast might not hurt, but definitely steer clear of yogurts, milks, and cheeses until you feel ready)
Try this Orzo recipe (go easy on the veggies) or this Chicken and Stars soup
Medicate
For a 24-hour bug, I wouldn't suggest any medication (but again, it completely depends on the severity of the virus) but for a more prolonged flu your best bet is to try some Pepto Bismol, Tums, or other over-the-counter stomach-easing meds (talk to a doctor!!) to help you out.
Rest
The best medicine in the world is some much deserved rest. Set yourself (or your loved one) up with comfy pillows, a few books or movies, accessible water at all times, and comfy loose clothes. Sleep as much as you can and don't feel bad asking your family members or roommates to help you out with little things like making you some toast :) Just remember to pay it back the next time they need a favor!

Plain pasta and a tiny bit of margarine always helps me recover after most of the virus has passed. Pasta actually has quite a bit of iron in it to get your body back in the fighting spirit!

Knock on wood, but I escaped the bug that was going around my office earlier this year. This is all good info though!

My personal approach is to watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding with a huge bottle of water, my stuffed elephant, and my comfiest PJs and just ride out the storm ;)
